Anyone do any of this type of thing? Where you send off saliva or hair and they define your intolerances.

I've never heard of it. Where did you hear about it, and have you done it yet? It sounds quite intriguing, please keep us updated.

I’m assuming this is a gene analyzing program - personally, I won’t do it, for 2 reasons. One is, I’m not sending off my DNA to any organization, medical or otherwise - I’m not convinced of how it will be handled after the designated purpose has been completed. Also, in the mental health world they’re doing this, to refine which meds will work for the person. Reports say the failure rate is high because they don’t know enough yet - many people have been told, based on their genes, that “this” is the med that will work (or combo, etc.) and it doesn’t work. I’m leery of the whole thing.

This is more of a tool to use as a go by, not a end all, be all. As we know nothing is perfect for anyone. I am hoping to help myself be more educated on what my triggers may be. It is an allergy test given based off of a hair sample.

As far as my DNA being out there. I drop hair everywhere and I am pretty routine in my where abouts so I am not worried of being tied to any crimes.

I do however understand. Not for everyone. Maybe helpful for some.

We have a lab here in the us called AlCat that does allergy testing. My hubby and I did it years ago when we had more disposable income and it was really beneficial..

Yes, I had this test done in the form of a cheek swab. It can test for metabolic genetic mutations. It can help determine appropriate dosage or drugs to avoid because one may metabolize a specific compound too fast or too slow.
