After being vertually symtom free for the last 4 months on additional medication of codiene 30 mg at night l decided to bite the bullet and go on a 2 week holiday to Spain, what an idiot l am. For the last 3 nights l am getting continual jerking again, l am so unhappy and suicidal again. I am sitting here writing this in the dark so as not to wake my husband, l know no one can really help me but l just needed to ramble on to someone, anyone who would listen to me, it helps to just write this down, l am so unhappy again, thought l was better but alas no. Thanks for listening

Yes ,you are an utter unfortunate idiot ( we call them eejits in Ireland 🤗 !

In the morning go straight to a pharmacist and explain the situation. They usually speak good English..

Don't sound too desperate-(as if you were an addict) and if you have any backing up evidence for you prescription, bring it along with you. Packet, photo or scrip. Even get someone at home to photo the scrip and wassapp it to you.

It may even be possible to get some med with codeine in it over the counter, but I have an idea that they are a bit stricter in Spain than in the UK, with regards to codeine.

Otherwise, if you can get Valium or Zolpidem, they may be able to get you over the hump.

All the very best.

Failing all the above, you should drink real fruit juices and take vit c to help.

Good luck.

How sad! Change of surroundings can be good and distracting, but not for you these days. Any obvious change in your diet? - to add a tiny bit to Madlegs advise. Of Spain is like France (I lived there) it will be easier than in the UK getting something helpful from the pharmacist. If is wasn’t the weekend now, I would suggest to phone tour GP. Otherwise, go to see a local GP. I hope you can find some effective help.

I can relate to your suicidal feelings as I have felt that way with my RLS and depression. I was hospitalized recently and my legs were bothering me day and night! I now take Mirapex 1mg twice daily and what a difference that is making in my quality of life! I just wish I knew what causes RLS! Wishing you peace!

So sorry. That’s terrible, awful. But there are drugs that help. Have you tried anything other than Codeine, or been prescribed any dopamine medication? Pramipexole helped me and others. I’d recommend seeing a Doctor in Spain and asking him to prescribe Tramadol or Pramipexole. Give it a try, if you haven’t already done so. I can also recommend cannabis and Kratom when you get back. You’re a thousand miles from idiotic by the way. Brave rather, not waking your husband. I think talking about it helps too.

Best luck!

Thank u for kind comments, l have heard of augmentation, or something like that, do u think this could be happening to me ?

Aug only happens with dopamine agonists, and maybe with Tramadol. RLS goes through cycles of good ... then bad. It can be triggered though, and can be heightened by foods it doesn’t like. And stress. There are quite a few drugs to try, though, other than Codiene. It’s going to be okay. I find sugar, antidepressants, hay fever medication and Gavascon really bad for RLS.

Hope you get some good zeds tonight!

Hang in there as it can only get better!

No problem. Yes, the patch is a dopamine agonist. I’m on Pramipexole and find that it works well, then suddenly fails. I try to hunt down the cause - some type of allergy for eg, maybe red wine or some medication . Always - so far - things come right, but I do use cannabis a lot and would be bonkers without it.
