Klonopin (Clonazepam) is a good antidepressant. I was on it for awhile for depression. Since it was way before my RLS diagnosis, I can’t offer any words of support except good luck!

Klonopin is also an Anti Seizure Medication. Initially That's What Is Was Developed For. Which Explains Why It Works On Issues Like Nocturnal Mycolonus, RLS, & Anxiety.

However, It is EXTREMELY Habit Forming.

But, If you take it as directed such as your prescribed amount at bedtime. You should be ok.

Clonazepan is fine for rls. It is a sedative, so puts you to sleep ,rather than deal with the rls.

It may be addictive in long term use, so use carefully.

Cheers.

I was told by a medical professional once that clonazepam did not help control RLS so much as to put you to sleep quickly so that you sleep through your RLS episodes. I'm all for anything that will let me get a little sleep.

Hi slickchipster, my neurologist prescribes klonapine (not sure if I spelled it correctly either). I can take .5mg 2 x a day. I try to take only 1 in the evening as it does make my a bit sleepy but it does not stop the RLS. I also take 5mg oxycodone around 7pm and then again around 1am. I get about 6-7 hours sleep if I am lucky with this combo.

I have been on Clonazepam (klonopin) for appx. 20 yrs. Always taken with another RLS drug to control my RLS. Has always worked fine up until about 4 mos. ago. Now, my Dr. and I are trying different combinations of drugs to control my RLS. Not having much luck and am about to go crazy. Go luck with your effort.
