Eldepryl
This is based on one study from 2003 focused at PLMS with 31 patients. Average reduction of movements per hour was just over 50%. But no complaints of RLS in these patients. And no follow up studies.
I wonder where your GP got her information. I wouldn’t have my hopes up. Oh. And it may be given for (early) Parkinson’s. But hey, RLS has not very much in common with Parkinsons. We RLS-ers have enough dopamine, whereas Parkinsons’s patients don’t.
Thanks. Ive looked it up on the internet but not much info
rxlist.com or drugs.com give really good information. The first one is extremely detailed.
It is for early stage parkinsons and it is related to SSRI antidepressants, so could make RLS worse. AND, you definitely cannot take it with another med that is a seratonin uptake, you will most likely develop Seratonin Syndrome. I have NEVER, in 28 years, ever heard of anyone taking this med for RLS. You could be the first, but I know it is an iffy class of meds for people with RLS. All you can do is try it, if he is pushing it. The regular Parkinson's meds that are used for RLS are pramipexole (Mirapex), or ropinerole (Requip) at the lowest possible dose to start with. How long have you had RLS, and have you ever tried any meds for it yet?
Ive had rls since my 20's and now Im 68 but I only started mirapex5 years ago.(the lowest dose of 0.18) Im trying to cut down to a half but its difficult. My doctor wants me to increase the mirapex but Ive read about augmentation which he poohood. Anyways I askes him to give me lyrica and he did but said it wouldnt make any difference. I have great difficulties sleeping. Oh yes Ive also started gbd oil. Lets see
