Thank you!
Yes I was on it for a few months I think. At first it gave me sleep but I found i was having to increase the dosage too often. Then I got diagnosed with bipolar and have since stopped taking Clonazepam and now take Seroquel and I sleep 7-9 hrs every night. I'm supposed to be (by now) taking 7-8 Seroquel but anymore than the current one that I am taking sends my whole body RLS insane. I am seeing my psychiatrist this coming week and hopefully he'll be able to adjust my meds. Believe it or not he seems to actually know what he's talking about and surprise surprise also seems to actually care. The Seroquel is supposed to be levelling out my moods, but as I've been on the lowest of lows for a month now, I don't think it is quite doing its job. But it has definitely cured my inability to sleep.
Clonazepam doesn't work for my RLS at all it tends to do best as an add on med in combination with others. However some find it very helpful for RLSx
I don't think clonazepam was intended to be a one medicine do all. I have been taking it for over 20 yrs. along with other medications. The trick is finding the right combination. I am on a 1mg tablet 3 times a day, but I have learned to space the dosage times out so that there is always some of the med in my body and can overlap. That's today. Tomorrow may be totally different.
I was prescribed Clonazepam several years ago and the amount has now stabilised. I have never tried any other Meds for rls. When I asked - the doc said i couldn't have the other ones due to the antidepressants I'm on. I usually get a reasonable nights sleep. On holiday last year and our villa was burgled including my Meds. No sleep for 3 nights until I managed to get some. I have found that I have to sacrifice some sleep and take the lower dosage otherwise I feel pretty out of it the next day. But I am very dependant on them.
Hi l have used Clonazepam for rls for years as and when I really need to but l only take half a tablet as it makes me so tired through the next day. I find this works for me to get enough sleep most of the time unless l have really bad times .l am waiting on dialysis or a kidney transplant and l have to drink a few litres of water a day, since I started drinking so much water l have found my legs are a lot better, they only bother me occasionally now.
I have taken clonazepam for RLS for about 8 years now. It doesn't seem to work on it's own, it needs another med with it. I was put on Mirapex to go with it. It worked great for awhile and then the break troughs started. It meant that I needed to increase the meds. The one thing is getting off of them is a night mare of which I am going through now. Goggle "Bad Drugs" and read what it says before you take anything. The makers of the drugs didn't tell all of the side effects and a lot of us are paying the price for it.
Clonazepam was the first medication I tried for my RLS. I didn't take it for very long, maybe a month or so, because it made me feel.... off. Things appeared a bit surreal, and I started to feel depressed. My doc took me off of it and put me on Ropinerol (Requip) instead. This has been a godsend. No real side effects, and I've been on it about 6 months now. I take one pill of .25 mg at night about 30 minutes before bedtime. I have noticed that I've had to increase my dosage of .25 mg at times. I'll take a half a pill during the day if my RLS starts kicking up, which it seems to do more often now, going into my arms as well. I worry about augmentation, but for now it seems manageable.
