l doubt that I have asked this question before on this forum ..... my apologies if I have.

I take Seroquel (for my bipolar) just one/ngt. If I take anymore it sends my rls insane. According to the directions from the diagnosing psychiatrist by now I should be taking 6/ngt. The last 3 weeks have been terrible with me experiencing an extremely low low and I have also been quite manic.

I understand that none of you are qualified to answer this question but just wanted to get your ideas on me asking my doctor this following question.

It is unfortunate that I cannot take more than one tablet of Seroquel/ngt, but I was wondering what would happen if I should take one during the day and then another at night. You never know, maybe with the time lapse between the taking of the two tablets ... my RLS may be able to handle it.

So what do you think? Silly question or one that needs asking.

It’s worth a try. I’ve been experimenting with the timing of some of my meds. as well.

Hi Phogan. You pose a very interesting question. I don't have the answer but in talking to my doctor about a solution I would go the the appt with the following info I just googled. Apparently the 1/2 life of seroquel is about 6 hours which is not that long. Then I would ask the doctor what amount of time between doses might work best for me. It's always been interesting to me how drug companies arrive at their recommended times to take their meds. I suspect part of the equation involves considering ease of patient compliance. But there are those of us who might do better with a different schedule. This would require a doc who thinks outside the box. My personal experience with this is years ago I was started on Prozac (fluoxetine). It was still a new med and while it helped me at times I felt like I had too much in my system and would (on my own) skip a day or two. Fortunately I had a psychiatrist who I could be honest with and who I knew would work with me. The solution that we arrived at after he told me the half life of Prozac (don't remember but it was quite long-more than 24 hours as I recall) was to take my pill every other day which worked well for me for years. It allowed me to not feel like there was too much medicine in my system at one time.So maybe this info might be a starting point for figuring out a seroquel schedule tailor-made for you. This is an unusual approach but one size does not always fit all. Take care xx irina
