This past week, in my voluntary role as a Patient Liaison Advocate, I was somewhat surprised to be given a ward that I definitely did not expect .... THE CHILDREN'S WARD.
My immediate thought was, 'But children don't know, how or what to complain about'. And they didn't, and neither did their families.
But, by doing what I was there to do, (listen), I was seriously quite surprised by the questions that I was asked.
Long story short .... there were several patients on-ward that I had no difficulty in giving the following information.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILD TO A SLEEP SPECIALIST.
Yes, I was definitely under no doubt whatsoever that some of the kids were suffering in silence as nobody, not even the parents, ever gave RLS a single thought.
Yes indeed .... this week certainly gave me a much higher degree of satisfaction.
