Thanks for posting that article. I already take Taurine & L theanine and have always resisted calcium supplements. They don’t stop my RLS though.

Maybe the scientists can develop a drug that solves the Gaba/glutamine conundrum.

Like all my fellow sufferers, I live in hope.

This is kind of old news stemming from a study published by Johns Hopkins in 2013. Knowing what is causing RLS Insomnia (excess Glutamate) and blocking or lowering it are 2 different things. If you're living on only a few hours sleep, and don't feel especially sleepy during the day - it's probably excess Glutamate - excess excitability. Ibuprofen blocks Glutamate and it's probably a good test for excess Glutamate to take one when you wake in the middle of the night and see if you go back to sleep. hopkinsmedicine.org/news/me...

But not something I should do every night -- the ibuprofen. Am using a benzo and it really messes me up with psycho dreams and daytime tiredness.

and I'm using the dopamine agonist which as I understand commonly causes insomnia even as it stills the legs.

I think the insomnia will occur no matter how you eliminate the RLS. I used iron supplementation but also DA drugs could do the same thing - eliminate the RLS, but still have poor and fragmented sleep. I use 1/2 an ibuprofen (a 200mg caplet broken in half), or you can try children's ibuprofen 100 mg. I'm honing in on better sleep with a ton of fish oil - like 10x normal dose - seems to be helping.

Thanks for responding. I saw one reply indicating that a vegan diet had "cured" RLS for that person. I am going to get close to that, just can't accept that this is going to be the norm.

We can live in hope, but the guy who runs this web site is being sued for libel and slander by quite a few doctors. he used their information and pictures without permission. His name is David Wimble and he used to advertise "counseling" sessions and he would cure your RLS. The name of his web site says it all. There is no cure, he WAS in this group and several others until he started advertising counseling sessions, when he has NO training or education, period, in RLS. I could go on, but I strongly suggest you find your info elsewhere. he also slams the US RLS Foundation and THIS RLS-UK Foundation, which is NOT cool. You can find all the really bad stuff in his blog section. Also, when we busted him for the "counseling sessions", that was taken off his web site. hmmmmmmmm Don't believe him for a second, he has stolen all that info, even if some of it is good, and I say SOME.

Ok, I get it now. This article is within his newsletter.

Not sure why it has that "absolute cure for RLS" up in the left upper corner. Anyone who has it has seen enough and spent enough on that @#$%*.

My rule is any web site or person that uses the word "cure" or "healer" is someone to skip right over.

I had someone try to join one of my FB groups, and I ask vetting questions first. As a perfect example, someone tried to join said " I do not have RLS, but I am a HEALER of RLS". automatic NOPE, after doing groups for 27 years, I know better, and that is a buzz word, "cure" "healer" etc.
