Temazepam

These work in that I am able to sleep for 7 hours but I feel drugged until about lunch time the next day and I have been told not to take them every day so at the moment I am trying every other day. On the day I don't take them I get about 1 hour sleep if I'm lucky and the rest of the night I'm rushing round the house and garden as my legs are so bad. I do hope this augmentation period doesn't last too long as I feel I'm going a bit mad, but I was on pramipexole for 15 years so it may be a long haul. Has anyone else tried these sleeping pills? If so, how long did you take them for?

Thank for any info.

I also was given a few different "pam" drugs. None of them worked on the RLS and like you said, you just feel drugged most of the day but with no real quality sleep. I am back on oxycodone 5mg 2 times each evening. First one around 8-9 PM and the second one around 2am and I am getting much more and better sleep. Only problem is most doctors, especially in USA will not prescribe opioids due to government pressure.

Having lived with RLS for 40+ years. Can only describe it as a 'Pain in the A**e'.

But you seem to be lucky with only rushing around the House and Garden.

Try the screaming ab dabs, Knee jerk reactions every 2- 3 seconds.

Have taken Ropinerole for all my known prescription life with just a two months excursion with Praxi! The Dopamine's in Rop are heavy enough to put me in sleep mode 30 minutes after taking them (don't plan on driving afterwards), The Praxi was a trip to the moon and back.

About as effective as a Chocolate Spanner.

As I understand there are millions suffering the same as myself, asking the Drug Companies? 'Where is the answer?' Only to realise it is sitting next to the till.

Having said that and seen a recent reply in this forum loaded with contriteness 'I know all that!!'

What did he expect? We all wear the same Tee Shirt.

Oh my goodness cedesigns, that sounds like the worst Augmentation I’ve read about on here. Knee jerks every 2-3 seconds is BAD.

I’m sure you’re aware that being on Ropinirole all your prescription life ( presume at least 17 years) means you are most definitely in Augmentation.

If you want an RLS free day and some decent nights you are going to have to get off ropinirole.

If you decide to go down the withdrawal route it will be really hard but you will be in a much better place afterwards.

It’s not wholly clear from your post if you are still on ropinerole but I assume you are judging by the symptoms you describe. I agree with Jules that if you are still on ropinerole that is what is responsible for your horrendous sounding symptoms and you need to get off the drug to get yourself back to baseline symptoms.

It wil likely be a very difficult process but you will be glad in the end.

I was on Ropinirole for 15 years and went through withdrawal over a 3 /4 month period in 2016 with the help of tramadol. Temazapam will definitely leave you feeling drugged but if you’re managing to get sleep on it then that’s great as you’ll need all the sleep you can get if going through withdrawal.

Not sure it stops RLS though so you may find you need different meds to take to control RLS when off the pramipexole.

Lenilatt, I suspect you are at the worst stage of the withdrawal process. Usually nothing less than opioids help at this stage and I suppose (though it can hardly feel this way from your point of view) that you are fortunate that the tenazepam is having some effect. I am surprised it is quelling the Rls but you take what you get.

I hope you can remain strong. There may still be a good few bad nights ahead but you will be delighted when you notice your symptoms settling down after so long augmented by the d/a.

First, I am not a doctor. I am not recommending you try this approach. This reply is my own testing and it is just for your information. I too tried a 15 milligram Temazepam capsule to help me sleep. The full 15 mg dose did the same to me as it did to you. I felt drugged until the early afternoon the following day. Since my Temazepam was in a capsule and since I had a bunch of empty capsules, I opened the Temazepam capsule and transferred about a half of the dose to the empty capsule. I do not have a scale so I cannot be sure the exact amount I transferred to the empty capsule but I am sure it was far less than the 15mg. That night I slept for about 4 hours. I had to adjust the approximate amount of the Temazepam I put into the empty capsule until I was able to get a decent night's sleep and not feel drugged the following day.

How long have you been off the pramprixmole? My symptoms did not improv until I was off for 10 days but they stayed severe for a while. It’s been over 2 years now ( and one year off all meds) and my symptoms are WAY better.

I really have to watch my diet and stress though. When I was detoxing, sleeping pills didn’t work. I take trazadone to help me sleep sometimes but try to manage without. Hang in there and try to find your food/drink lifestyle triggers but it does take a while for your nervous system to heal. My brain hasn’t caught up since being off that damn drug, praying all of me will come back some day.
