AGM 2nd SEPT

Hope a lot of people can make it to the AGM in London in a few weeks time. It would be great to meet some of the many fellow RLS'ers who I've chatted to on here.

Hope you get a load of people turn up ,I wish I could but it's too far away .

Thinking of flying out. Is this conference close to the airport? What about public transport? I don't drive, so I will be relying on that to get around. How do I go about signing up?

You can join RLS UK on their main website but non members can come along by emailing the chairman. The notice of the AGM is under "posts" above and has the timetable and email link.

The venue is 10 mins walk from Kings Cross Station. The closest airport is London City Airport which is on the DLR rail line that goes to Bank station on the Northern Line. Bank station is 4 stops from Kings Cross.

The other London airports are miles away but Heathrow airport has a fast train to Paddington that takes 15 mins and then you could get a 10 min taxi ride to Kings Cross or you can get the slower tube on the picadilly Line all the way from Heathrow to Kings Cross ( takes about 40 mins). There should be lots of offers at the moment in hotels as it is pretty quiet in early Sep. Premier Inn is cheap and cheerful and as the pound has dropped so much against the Euro, London is now very reasonable for Euro zone travellers.

You are making me wish I was going. Would love to meet you face to face. Can't really justify it though ...

Oh see if you can - would love to meet up. Otherwise it'll have to be when I next visit Dublin with my new Irish passport!

8aAug 2017 I thought I would post a comment about the Relaxis pad which I myself did not have very much benefit from I gave it to a young friends husband who was suffering every night and dosing him self with vast quantities of aspirin no less.He apparently is one of the people who responds to the device and his wife tells me he is euphoric as it has given such relief. So it seems one has to keep trying until the right thing helps.

That's brilliant retren. More people would see this if you put it out under a new post or under existing posts about the Relaxis pad. You're right though- what works for one person won't work for another and it really is trial and error until you find the right thing.

Joolsg I am afraid I have not much expertise finding various things on the iPad but thank you for acknowledging my post about the Relaxis pad I am seeing my friend on Thursday GW and will be appraised more no doubt.I handed it over several months ago so just hope it continues to work.I have found certain foods etc exacerbate particularly gluten in food eliminating has not got rid of the beastly condition but cutting out gluten seems to have made the attacks less brutal.

That's interesting. A lot of people find their RLS improves when following low FODMAPS diet which also excludes gluten. I've been gluten free for 20 years ( trying to help my MS) & didn't think it was helping but I notice that if I ever lapse ( eating something with gluten) my RLS plays up despite the heavy meds I take. Yesterday I also ate avocado which is not allowed on low FODMAPS. I had a bad night.

There are definitely triggers for RLS, different for each person.
