My RLS which is relatively mild but worsening-for which I blame the HRT I am taking for osteoporosis-comes and goes.

I probably get three weeks on, two weeks off.

How does this fit with what we know of the condition being to do with dopamine release?

Thank you

There have been a few postings on HRT causing RLS or making it worse. Also reports of RLS worsening with monthly hormonal changes. As you need it for your osteoporosis, it's going to be difficult to see whether the RLS improves if you stop it.

Try other alternative methods, like taking supplements to improve dopamine in the body. Use the search engine and type ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS and just peruse some of the postings. If that doesn't help and you are losing sleep, you will need to think about meds to control it.

There are other posts on here stating that HRT makes things worse.

There are alternatives to HRT, iirc people with breast cancer can't take HRT.

As Joolsg says menstruation can exacerbate the whole thing too, (funny my wife's PMT makes my legs restless - I have to go for a LONG walk :) ).

There are a number of things that can be done via diet, iron, magnesium, etc that might bring you relief. What are you using drug wise?

Hi thanks

Does anyone have any thoughts on why RLS might disappear for a couple of weeks and then come back for a few weeks only to disappear again.

No obvious dietary or lifestyle issues I can think of to account for this.

I am currently awaiting blood test results.
