Being new to this fabulous site I came across an older article about lyrica and neurontin. Article point being these meds kill off any chance of making new synapses in brain. Really?

Had no idea. Sheesh

Thanks for that. It's based on a 2009 study- so I'll check it out through Cochrane review when I get a mo.
Too depressing that the only drugs that can prevent the nightly misery of RLS stop our bodies self healing mechanisms. There is no way I could go drug free for months to enable my body to start regenerating dopamine receptors & synapses. I'd get zero sleep.
Awake with RLS just bubbling away beneath the surface. Not full blown, but enough to wake me and stop me getting back to sleep. 4 am and will soon start looking for a new Netflix/Amazon series to binge watch for distraction.Recommendations welcome.
Night all,
I would rather take what ever meds work. Sleep deprivation can be a killer, lead to other health issues, even heart problems. People who suffer with epilepsy have to take these meds.
I agree. I'm not exactly thrilled taking klonopin right now but geepers keepers it works and sleep is glorious.
I think we can all agree, we all hate taking any meds. But what is the alternative. Its not always diet, iron etc for most of us.
Yeah. Pfft
Could that be the reason why lyrica and neurontin haven`t been approved by the FDA ?
Gabapentin (horizant) was approved in 2011 by the FDA as ok.
I searched `recent advances in RLS` and came up with this info, if anygood, on a `Healthgrades`site
