My dad has RLS and has been prescribed medication that is used with Parkinson's.

Are there any of you that suffer with this & what medication are you prescribed?

Be great to here from you

That's quite a normal prescription. Just given at a much lower dose.

Read up all you can on these two sites.

rls-uk.org

rlshelp.org

There is all the info you will need there.

Good luck.

Hi Mama27

Yes, quite normal to have these prescribed for RLS. I took them for quite a few years before I got Augmentation (meds turn against you and make rls worse) and moved on to Gabapentin. I'm now taking Oxycodone 5mg am and 10 mg pm.

This is a great site for help and understanding of this horrible condition. Pippins2, Jools, Madlegs1 and our Administrator Karina (spl) are very knowledgeable and give great advice.

Dads only been taking it for 3 nights & unsure if it's working as it doesn't wake him up only my mum! Told him to sleep in with her tonight so they can do a test. He's only on 0.08mg. Not sure if it works straight away or needs to build up in your system?

Hi mama, it sounds as if your dad has PLMD aswell as RLS, PLMD is Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, which means he is kicking and moving in his sleep, which he wont know, but your mum will as she will be getting kicked or woking up from his movements. The pramipexole should work straight away on the first night. He can go to the next dose up, and try it. but my advice is not any more than that. The RLS experts are saying if taking 2 pills are not working then it needs changing to a different med.

I am taking klonopin. Can't take the DA's. It's working quite well for me at the moment.

i take now safidamina which is an inhibitor of MAO-B of glutamat, seems is quite now for Parkinson's. 50 mg and doesn't work for me, I will try 100 mg precribed by my doctor (I have taken gabapèntin, pramipexole, and others, I got augmentation and now any of them work for me). I'm looking for alternatives (tramadol doen't work). Next will be oxycodone
