Hi, I have RLS after suffering from a ruptured disc which damaged my sciatic nerve, I now have permanent nerve damage and numbness down my left leg & foot as well as bouts of chronic pain.
RLS is mainly at night and causes very broken sleep, have tried lots of medication.... gabapentin, tramadol, amitriptyline but suffer horrendous side effects! co-codamol helps but I hate the 'hangover type feeling'.
I have recently been to pain clinic and was prescribed pregabalin, after 2 weeks I was pain free and felt fabulous as was actually sleeping but then the side effects started... typical!! back to square one

That's frustrating. Are the side effects of the pregabin bad enough to make you stop taking it and does it still stop the RLS despite the side effects?
The side effects were extreme bloating so very uncomfortable, and stomach cramps so it was a choice between feeling full term pregnant all day but sleeping at night or broken sleep & RLS
They definitely helped with my nerve pain and RLS but I just couldn't cope with the side effects
That's a real shame. Sorry to hear that. If you still have RLS there are other things you could try. Spend a bit of time searching through this site. It's really useful to see what other meds are available, or diet / supplements.
