Lyrica? Weigh the pros and cons.
So much hysterical hysteria. Is it just Americans that do this so well?
All medications are potentially nasty and dangerous. They should all be treated with care and caution.
Start slowly , get off slowly.
Simple.
Yes, it is just us Americans. It's humiliating in terms of the world stage. We're boorish and operate mostly out of the base of the skull where the most primitive inclinations reside. You can forgive those in less westernized societies but we have no excuse. On a brighter note, I heard that the more transcendent members of our society are seeing an "awakening" of consciousness provoked by the current administration. Every dark cloud has a...
I love it!
I listen in to the Iron Disorders institute " chat room" - which is actually a series of random emails. Very weird! But some good information on phlebotomy.
Anyway- a while back, they got very taken up with some new kid on the political block , and a lot of agitation ensued until someone informed them that a higher life form might be listening in!😲
They are back to normal now.
I suggested they look at HU as a good example of how to set out a health chat site.
Cheers. 😎
totally agree, madlegs, and it is not just Americans. I agree with you. ANY med can have side effects, depending on the person and how they react to a medication. I am from the US. The FDA HAS to list every little side effect even if it happens to just one person. sigh. This med was not for me, but I do know several people who use it effectively and with no problems at a pretty low dose.
Good lord those nuggets are just about killing me. I've read that taurine is like magic for diabetic neuropathy. And when you stop the taurine, your neuropathy is better, your heart is better and no withdrawal. If I could go back in time I'd tell those people to skip the Lyrica and give the Taurine a shot. Wish I could find something like that for non-diabetic peripheral neuropathy. There was a woman on another RLS website whose husband had diabetic neuropathy. Not only did it help the neuropathy but his RLS as well. Love those happy endings.
Isn't it your turn to do the fossicking?
I wonder do you have any information on IP6 and Inisitol?
It's quite expensive but has rave reviews from some people for almost every ailment (which immediately makes me suspicious )
Sorry if this has been asked before.
And apologies to rls community for sidetracking.😔
I'm on it. No info off hand. I have heard of IL6 and Anti-TNF therapy to treat inflammatory diseases. But clearly that's not what you're thinking of. Give me a few...
Life is strange. I do know about IP6, indirectly. IP6 is also known as phytic acid or phytates (when bound to a mineral). The article from the Weston Price Foundation I posted recently talks about how phytates are "anti-nutrients." I'm avoiding foods high in phytates right now as part of this bizarre diet I'm on. Phytic acid tend to bind to minerals and make them unabsorbable in gi tract which is not a good thing. This fact seems well known, beyond the article I posted. But who knows, maybe taken away from meals and allowed to enter our body as pure phytic acid it can bind to unwanted or excessive substances, including heavy metals or iron and escort it out of the body. Or cancer cells? As far as cancer goes I don't understand the lingo enough in the articles to understand how the IP6 has anti-cancer properties.
So if someone is healthy and is always looking to get healthier and want to take IP6 in somewhat large quantity I would tell them to consider the down-side meaning the anti-nutrient aspect. If I have cancer or some other disease and this shows promise then I'm stockpiling it.
I was put on Lyrica and within weeks, my words were slurry, I was forgetful and felt unwell and I went on to have 2 seizures, (which I never had before). Once I stopped taking them I was fine, back to myself. This is one medication I will never take again 😟
Yes, I've been reading stories just like yours. Some stories with Gabapentin, but not as many or severe as Lyrica. I've been thinking about posting something for months but haven't. I'm glad you're better. On a brighter note, you have lots of safe alternatives for the RLS.
