I am on 0.18 mg 3 X daily and this is working brilliantly. However my weight has gone up by one stone. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Hi Pennyfarthing ,for a lot of us yes, the weight just appears it must be a side affect for some of us if you have a look at some of the old discussions you will see the different problems the different meds have ,it all boils down to how you feel about yourself I have been on the same meds as you for a few months and I gained the weight to ,and I hate it

Also thats quite a high dose if you've started on that. What's your history?

Did you have rls 24hrs or just at rest or only at night.?

If only at night - you urgently need to sort that regime or it will not be "brilliant" for long.😢

Read up " Augmentation " in the search box - top right magnifying glass button.

Good luck.

I've had severe restless legs for years and not so severe since birth. The last 3 years were horrendous, couldn't go anywhere if it involved sitting even to go out for a meal.

First I was on ropinarole which for 6 months was good, then augmentation set in. I then paid to see a neurologist who was superb. He set out a programme so next I went on the patches but they didn't help at all. Pramepexole was next and as I get it 24/7 I was started on it gradually then to the dose I'm now on. Life is brilliant now with very few occurrences of rls and I even went on a plane this year!

I hope it continues for you but your dose is high, and i can see augmentation setting in before long. sorry to say.

PennyfarthingI posted about the weight gain I had sometime ago.I put on30 something pounds and simply could not control the increase. If I had not discontinued the medication I would probably been able to be rolled down the street.I am still trying to get the last pounds off..The awful thing is all the medications have side effects and often do not work into the bargain. All one can do is keep trying. It would be of help maybe if some prominent person had the condition and publicized the fact more research would be kick started.

Oh you poor thing I've had it on a plane once coming back from L.A. I was in agony and nearly dying from embarrassment I had forgotten to bring any pramipexole with me,it never stopped all the way, people were giving me funny looks and I was crying an absolute nightmare. Its been relatively quiet last couple of years but last couple of weeks it has tarted again.what can I do,as well as my multiple arthritis I feel crazy with pain?
