Anybody any experience of this herbal remedy for RLS? Just read an article about a small test involving 37 RLS sufferers suggesting positive results but dismissed in RLS by Buchfuhrer etc as untested. May give it a try alongside my Tramadol..
Valerian: Anybody any experience of... - Restless Legs Syn...
Valerian
I have tried Valerian years ago but did nothing for my RLS. It is more for sleep. Make sure it doesnt interact with your Tramadol, if you decide to try it. Herbal doesnt always mean no side effects.
I tried it for sleep, in fact I've a bottle of it beside me now! Never helped me sleep and can't remember if it helped the RLS - any idea of dosage mine are capsules containing 750mg of Valerian Root 1 a day.
The powder itself smells like cheesey smelly feet so beware if you get it!!
In the (very brief) article it was tested at 800mg for 8 weeks.
37 people for 8 weeks, is not really enough people or long enough to say this would work. Was it a double blinded study.? To get a proper idea on how anything works or not, is at least 100 people and at least 3 months study.
It obviously hasn't been tested properly, hence my reason for asking for other sufferers experiences.
And it tastes similar lol
I never had much luck with valerian root for restless legs but I have had some luck with vertiver essential oil. Mixed with a lot of carrier oil (it's potent stuff). Could help.
I tried Valerian about 15 years ago before I had ever heard of or been diagnosed with RLS and all I knew was that I slept poorly. Unfortunately it did not have any significant beneficial effect for me.
I have tried it but sadly to no avail.
Shot 25 years ago I took valerian root for RLS. I researched it online. lol it was when the Internet just started taking off. (Wow. I feel old) and it was recommended in some forum. Along with Primrose Oil. It (they) gave me relief. But that was long ago when my RLS was nothing like it is now.
