I have been using these patches for a year or so, they do work on an ad-hoc basis, and I have had to up the dose. I take them in conjunction with Co-codamol - they used to help my RLS on their own, but as with most drugs, the effects eventually wear off sadly.....

Rotigotine patches
I'm using a combination of Neupro patch and Targinact. If I miss one or the other the legs are crazy if I use both I usually get relief, (although doesn't remove the restlessness completely).
Hi-I use a 1 mg patch and went up to 2 . The neurologist didn't like this and said go back to 1 but support it with Gabapentin. I am now up to 900 mg and last night I slept from 11.00 to 4.30 aided as well by 1.25 clonazepam. The really good thing is that with the Gabapentin I am not waking up with very bad painful legs. Long may it continue!
Wow, well I am now on 4mg patches nightly, which is worrying for me as the largest does is 6mg. That is why I have re-started researching this life-debilitating 'illness', and talking to people like you. I wonder if Gabapentin is similar to Co-codamol? Thank you.
It is not recommended to go over 3 mg Neupro patch as the higher the dose the greater the risk of developing augmentation. 6 mg is not a RLS dose it is a Parkinson Desease dose.I would work on reducing the Neupro patch and increasing your painkiller. If Co-codamol is not enough maybe try a stronger painkiller, many find Tramadol very good x
It would beg the question why my Neurologist OKs this for me then!! As I said, his attitude is a bit like 'oh don't worry, it's fine'!!!! When I see him again in June I will show him all your posts, etc along with any info I have researched on and see what he says then. Thank you.
Hi-I had understood that for RLS the highest dose of Neupro was 3mg. Apparently the higher the dose the greater the risk of augmentation. Gabapentin is in a group of medications called Alpha-2-delta calcium channel ligands whereas the codeine bit of co-codamol is an opioid. Pregabalin and tegretol are in the former group and tramadol amongst others is in the letter group. The short answer to your question is therefore no.
