Hello:

I am an active 57 year old, I have had RLS for my whole life, the last 30 has been a battle....I have suffered so, silently, pacing my small house at night, making sure I would nott disturb the family.

In 2000, I started taking Clozinpan, but worried when that stopped working and I needed more. In 06 I stated Requip, starting at an initial dose of .05, it was a godsend.

Rebound or augmentation started early within the first year, I was not told this was happen. I raised my dose, now I am at 4mg. Which is not a lot compared to some stories where double and triple that is the norm. I vow to not raise this amount.

This is an annoying disease, no one understands the torture it brings,

I can't imagine trying to get to work everyday with this.

I babysit my grandchild, have a "driving Miss Daisy" business and make sea shell wind chimes.

My daytime symptoms are bad, afternoons the worse. I do some medical marajuana to take the edge off, so I may "sit" and work on projects. How can Sitting??? Be such a difficulty, Really, all we want to do is sit!!! I sometimes stand while at a restaurant.

I have new insurance, I am going to discuss my legs, but I am alarmed at the lack of knowledge the doctors have, I know more than they do and I don't want to be hooked on another drug, I could not stand withdrawal, how do you people stop taking the drugs ?My skin would crawl right off.

Nice to be here. I live in San Diego County, if there is a meet up here.

i also am GF, 6mths, I don't know if it's better or what.

Hi Kkoastal and welcome.

Yeah it is a b1tch! Just wanted to comment on the drug side of things. After suffering horrendously with the pain and the discomfort my advice is take every drug you can that will keep the evil legs, (and in cases back and arms) at bay.

When they become ineffective, change. Bite the bullet and go through a couple of weeks of torture and use a new one for relief again. Look at it as paying the price for all the nights you slept or sat! I used Tramadol until it stopped working, I stopped cold Turkey and to be fair I had a bad couple of months but that was because I had no other drug to swap too.

I remember vividly the stillness in my body the first time I tried Kratom, (well worth looking into in my opinion). I almost cried as for the first time in my life my body was at peace with itself!

Its a shame that we have to resort to drugs just to be able to do what most people take for granted, such a simple thing as sitting still!

I would love to life in a place where medical cannabis is available, have you found any particular strain of cannabis better than others? Do you prefer a Sativa or an Indica?

Good luck.

Hi KkCoastal, Usually if someone stops a dopamine med they need another med to help with the severe RLS that the withdrawal bringd. This is normally a strong pain med ,some finf Tramadol helpful others need something stronger. It certainly sounds like you have augmentation.Just so you know because of the high risk of augmentation it is recommended to keep the Requip as low as 1mg per day ,2mg absolute max so your dose is considered high. The people you know on 8/12mg are actually on Parkinson Disease doses. It sounds as though the Requip is not helping you so maybe you could ask yout doctor to prescribe a strong painkiller to help you get off it ....Pipps
