Live and die with RLS
Sinemet isnt used alot these days for RLS because it causes augmentation faster than the other DA's so you have done well for 2 yrs. Look at rls-uk and rlshelp.org they list the meds which are available for RLS. You need to change the sinemet.
Sorry that website should be rls-uk.org
Well justcrazer I seem to be in the same boat as you.Iv'e been suffering with RLS for a life time..Drs. Didn't understand what you were going through in the early days, now they have more understanding.I started treatment some years ago when I finaly found a Dr.who understood what was wrong with me. He put me on several treatments but nothing worked for me.Finaly he put me on a course of ROTIGOTINA about 2mg per day,it seem to work ok for a short time but it had to be increased nearly every two weeks until I'm now on 14,mg /day.At the moment it's 4.30 am I haven't settled all night, might get a couple of hours sleep in the week..I'm at my "wits end", even went on a course of Magnesium ,which does' seem to work either I find it difficult to concentrate .Does any body out there have any remedy ,I'm currently waiting for a book called Answer Found 4 RLS .Keep your fingers crossed! 🐱
That is normal. Meds stop working ALL the time. The dopamine meds can turn on us, sinemet is the worst one, Gabapentin can just stop working, if it ever does work for you, that is. With the dopamine meds, some doctors dose it out too high and it will eventually make your RLS worse for many of us. There are Parkinson's does, which are much higher than RLS doses. No way should we ever be on high doses of dopamine meds. Not for RLS. Ad sinemet is rarely used in the US, it is considered to be too old fashioned, and does no last long. But meds stop working all the time, or to put it another way, RLS is progressive and a dose of a med that USED to work may not be enough now. But don't let doctors up the dopamine meds. Augmentation is a horrible thing to go thru, worsening of symptoms if on dopamine drugs, which Gabapentin is not, of course.
