Hi everyone, I have severe restless legs, taking Ropinirole,Tramadol and Clonazepam. I have just had hip replacement and the legs have flared up - from being fairly settled. Has anyone experienced this and how can I deal with it other than being zonked by over medication?

Hi,sorry to hear that your legs are giving you trouble. Hope the op for your hip is a success. I've not had a hip replacement but have had surgery in the past which flared my RLS. This is a common phenomenon. Sadly I can't advise you what to do. My legs settled to their usual pattern soon after my operation. Good luck.

Thanks so much Jumpy, it makes me feel better your flare-up did not last long. I shall just have to live with it for a while.

I have had surgery twice since 2013 and when I woke up from he operations, I was in a full blown episode of RLS. I was trying to tell the nurses ing the recovery room what was going on. They were busy and didn't actually want to hear me and didn't have the tools to help if they had really wanted to help.

Finally, my grandson, who at age 40 in worse than me intervened and said,'' give this man an opiate in his I.V. tube''. (I had a tube in my nose so ingesting the pills was impossible. the stomach pump would have just sucked them into the collection jar. )

Whatever they gave me made them stop jerking. I am not an addict, but am drug dependent. I take Requip (ropinarole) and if the dose is high enough, I get some relief from the overall restless body they call RLS.

Last mo I had a small hernia repaired and left the hospital within two or three hours and was in the middle of an attack as I woke up and they gave me an opiate and as soon as I got in the car with my son who was my designated driver, I took 2mg time release ropinarole and it took 45 min before I was not jerking na jumping.

THE ANSWER IS HECK YEAH, SURGERY OR THE DRUGS THEY GIVE YOU NEGATES ALL PREVIOUS DRUGS AND WHEN YOU FINALLY GET THEM QUIET, YOU'LL NEED EXTRA DRUGS FOR A MONTH.

Thanks - I am learning a lot from you all on the forum

I did have a blood loss by only one point it dropped and l had rls going nuts. It's been doing it especially after being put under for procedures without surgeries too. I'm hoping Elisse can answer for both of us. My brain is at a loss today
