Jack, in my experience the best medicine is no medicine. The goal is to only stay on the RLS meds if you absolutely have to, such as is the case with end stage renal disease. Otherwise, we are finding more and more that there are things people are doing/taking that are triggering their RLS, or making it worse than it has to be, with a rare few exceptions. So no one should advise you about the RLS meds, including myself, until we know a little bit about your medical history. Have you had any type of surgery or injury recently? Do you take any antihistamines, antidepressants, antacids, anti-nausea, melatonin, statins, calcium channel blockers or even over-eating at night or being constipated? Do you have diabetes, RA, thyroid issues or spinal problems or intestinal problems? I believe it's better to treat the cause (if there is one) than the symptoms. If there isn't a cause, then you have to find the best medicine you can because unending RLS is unacceptable. Odds are there is a cause.
