I cut all processed foods, especially wheat and now my "All Over RLS" is completely gone.

When I eat pizza (my weakness) it comes right back. When I stick with unprocessed foods, no processed sugar or any wheat at all, it stays away. I do still sometimes eat wheat and some processed stuff when I can't eat my paleo food like when I'm out with friends, but it's worth it. I sleep better and I'm dropping the pounds like crazy. Who would think that a high protein/ high fat/ no or low carb diet would make you start dropping weight. I suppose it's because your body is getting enough fat and protein, so it can burn what it already has and doesn't really need to burn the fat and protein from the food. Just like if you drink enough water, you won't feel bloated. Your body will automatically conserve what it feels it's not getting enough of.

Glad you much improved ! Do you not take any meds at all whilst following this diet?

I was taking gabapentin (Neurontin) for a while, but I was able to get off it about three months ago. I wanted to try nutrition for my health because I got really tired of doctors pushing drug after drug. After I recovered from my physical dependence on Norco AND MS Contin-dr had me taking both at the same time- I decided to get off the crap-train that the doctors had me on, so no more meds for me. They PUSH hard to get you to take meds in this country...they have pills for everything and I'd had enough. They pay off the politicians, turn around and pay off the doctors...it's time to stop the unethical practices that the medical community tries to push on us Americans in the guise of "it's for your health". Sorry, I shall get off my soap box...I get a bit miffed talking about it.

I have had some success in maintaining a low dose since going dairy free so it is interesting to read your story. Thank you for sharing and I will mention this when I see a dietician tomorrow.

Hi SaginReno, I too have found relief from my RLS symptoms by changing my diet. My experience with RLS symptoms is primarily caused by what I eat. High roughage foods (bananas, oats, beans, sometimes greasy meats) cause trapped gas. Avoiding these foods and getting exercise outside in the morning, when my body best absorbs the Vit D from the sun have eliminated my RLS symptoms. I sleep beautifully now. If I do get an RLS attack from eating out, I move the body around, twist at the waist, walk, perform a gas-releasing yoga position, drink water and then go to the toilet to release the gas or defecate. Other people have had similar positive results by changing their diet: see Canadian David Wimble’s site on avoiding inflammatory foods: rlcure.com/

Re the drug and clinician 'mindless' cycle of dependency: as long as we accept their drug dependent advice...they will continue to give it out. I strongly encourage all RLS sufferers to first try changing minds, and then their diets before starting on the drugs... It should only take about 3 days to see if your changed diet is having an affect.

I tried the gundry diet all organic...low meat...no glutten ate the way the folks in the know say to eat. The diet did nothing absolutely nothing for me...as a matter of fact all I could do was sleep all day long completely exhausted. When I went back to the western diet gained weight i actually felt much much better still RLS. Who knows what causes it....20 years ago i never met one person who had RLS and now it is like the common cold.

With our bodies getting bombarded all day by EMF;s and Round UP (same as agent orange) all diseases have gone up.
