I have for many years taken Seroxat (paroxetine) as well as ropinirole without any aggravation of symptoms
For years I used Citalopram for my depression and according to my neurologist it's a trigger for RLS. He adviced me to take Wellbutrin instead, since 2,5 months I take Wellbutrin and the results are heaven. Maybe it's worth to try? I hope it's available in your country, I live in the Netherlands.
Thank you evaendennis, I looked up on RLS Help and it mentioned Wellbutrin . I am off to see my GP this morning and will certainly ask for this, hopefully it will be available in the UK. Thank you again for replying
Wellbutrin goes under the name Zyban in Britain.
Thank you Avosyl for your input I have made a note, I have been on Trazodone for 2 weeks and so far so good my RLS is no worse but its early days
I have taken note of that one your on as am due at the doctor on Mon to get some tablets advised by a neurologist in regard to a problem with the nerves in my hand. She wants me to take an antidepressant and i had been looking some of them up which is how i found out about the Zyban. Not keen on taking any as they always put weight on me.
I'm in the UK and on Venlafafaxine which was on the RLS Help drug list and I don't think it has made my RLS worse.
Hi Tiredparent, I remember you from some time ago, and remember you are the Co-Ordinator for the website, and very kindly stopped me from being bullied and I really appreciated that. I also take Venlafaxine and find it is very good, and does not seem to agitate my RLS, and I get on very well with Ripinirole, so at the moment, I know when and how and why it will start, so I try and keep it at bay, as it is more difficult to get rid of it once it starts, but the secret is not to get worked up when you get RLS, just try and keep calm, walk around reading if you can, I find if you can find someting else to do, it does not seem to get so bad or even start, the other strange thing I have noticed is that if I need to pass a motion in the bathroom, sometimes my Restless Legs will start up, so I wonder if it is all pressure in the back, legs and bowel area, who knows where it come from, my Spinal Surgeon says it is all do with the nerves and transmitters running up and down the spine, which become agitated and will come out in all different ways, he always recommends lots of sleep if possible, and try and live as much of a stress free life as possible. I am coping quite well at the moment, so I am keeping my fingerfs crossed. Nice to talk to you again. Widgeylegs.
Thank You - My GP checked up on Wellbutrin and unfortunately its not licensed in the UK. But I came away with Trazodone 50mg tablets to try for a month. However i have made a note of Venlafafaxine.
Paxil made my sister's rls worse.
Thanks for your comment Jaynielynne
I use Fenlafaxine 40mg and they work wonders, and do not upset my Restless Legs, they are seperate all together to my Depression, getting tired or stressed or agitated is my worst problem for RL. but I have learnt to keep it under control by taking my Ripinirole before I want to rest and relax, then I don't get the RL and I do not get upset or angry or besides myself with anxiety. I stop the RL before it starts if I can. Good Luck Widgeylegs
I am waiting to see the effect of Trazadone and after three days I am sleeping better and my RLS is OK at the moment, my problem also is getting anxious for no reason
- so fingers crossed !!
Regards M
My husband is disabled and my life is not easy. I know for a fact that any doctor would rush to prescribe me antidepressants but about 7 years ago I tried Prozac. I was on it for about 3 months and my RLS went wild. Before that I was using 1 clonazepam a day but afterwards it took a lot more to get rid of the symptoms and I've never gone back to how I was before.
At one time I became anaemic and again my RLS took a turn for the worse. In both these cases it's got worse and stayed worse. I'd be very reluctant to try anything that could possibly make it worse as it doesn't seem to recover when I stop.
Does anyone else have this problem?
