Sadly it is normal for some of us, BUT there is lots of help out there. In the first instance you need to talk to your GP & have blood tests to rule out iron & potassium deficiencies etc. hopefully you will be put on medication. If you have already done all this go back & ask for a change of medication & or a referral to a neurologist. Whatever you do do not accept the situation..be proactive until it is sorted.
Hi I am being referred to a Neurologist for another reason - should I mention this to him/her at the time ?
Yes definitely as it may be related. I went to see a neurologist about trigeminal neuralgia (face pain) & told her about my RLS. She ended up treating me for both with one drug.
Ok ... I need to mention it ... I keep forgetting to as I always think it sounds so silly
It's not silly at all especially as it's affecting your life & driving you mad. Also the neurologist will want to treat you as a whole so it's vital to tell everything. You need all the help you can get..RLS is awful!!
Thanks ... so is it a common complaint then - I just thought it was me and I was going crazy. My kids watch me when I am awake and I am moving my feet round and round in circles too ..... they all think it is hilarious
RLS effects me mainly in need to move legs. On occasion in the past I had the urge to move arms, but since I stopped the one medicine and took another my legs got better and I haven't had many problems with arms. I think once your have augmentation from any of the RLS meds, you have increased leg problems and then sometimes an "overflow" going into the arms.
