RLS is more an urge to move your limbs kind of thing - that sounds more like sciatica.Check with your GP and try to get a referral to a Neurologist Suri. Wet weather usually starts the Arthritis up !

RLS is not only an urge to move! Many of us has terrible pain and jerkings. 40% of us has the arms affected. About 20% other body parts.

Hi Suri, i also get awfull pain with rls, allover my leg's realy, feel's something like electric shock's shooting through me, i also suffer from osteo arthritis, and this weather does aggravate that, but it's definately two different kind's of pain

RLS pains can affect the whole body, including the face!

I have terrible terrible pain in my legs from the knees and down and in the arms from the elbows and down AND an urge to move AND jerkings.

I cannot see any different behaviour cause to the weather.

Definitely sounds more like sciatica

Ihave RLS with pain, and sciatica, and the pain is definally different with each, so i dont doubt Suri could have the painfully type of RLS

Hi Suri

My RLS started in the legs with an uncomfortable feeling that just wouldn't let me stay in one position for any length of time. If I am cold, it sometimes starts my legs jumping and if I can't warm them up, depending on where I am at the time, I walk around or move them as much as possible. I agree with Eileen49 that you may have Sciatica if you are having pain in the Buttock - I also have that too and at the moment and it's really bad, I lie on my stomach to stretch my leg out, then I can get to sleep! Make sure you never sit on anything cold, that's how it triggered mine off this time.

My legs suffered 1st then it went into arms, I also get sciatica it's not the same pain as the RLS, the weather has no effect on my RSL as I spend many months abroad sometimes warm or cold places. good luck

Mine goes from the buttocks right down the legs including the feet. No pain just an irresistible urge to move the legs. Often at night unfortunately and in my case caused (I think) by Parkinson's Disease. There does not appear to be a cure as far as I can tell.

I also get painful RLS, in my calves, goes down to my feet and toes sometimes, its a hard pain to describe. Its like a deep ache, feels as if its in my muscles, its not cramp. If i push on the calf the pain is worse.

PositivePen, there definately is no cure for RLS, or PD, if you have that too.

The hot weather makes mine feel worse at night, but not wet weather.

Hi Suri

I also get RLS in the buttocks but its not a pain. The muscles spasm and it goes down the backs of my legs. To make it worse my genitals are also affected its like the irritation goes through my body from front to back and down the back of my legs. This has been the subject of many a joke but its not a joke to me as when its bad I could bang my head on the wall from the hypersensitivity and irritation and the only instant relief is stretching the hamstring muscles and keeping them stretched or contracting and releasing the affected muscles hard over and over again . I have been know to fall asleep in the yoga plough posture. Fortunately its controlled now with rotigitone patches but they don't always stick right and fall off; and like others I can be up all night as I've never had any medication that works straight away. Years of misery and I never knew how many others suffer the same dreadful curse. It does help to read everyone's experience and the often illogical bizarreness of it all.

Queeniebee ......I get it in the same personal places! It's like an uncontrolled contraction over and over again....not many people seem to mention it.

Have you tried putting a couple of plasters over the patch? I use the sensitive ones and problem solved! I usually use 3 slim ones to cover the whole patch.

My RLS is definitely affected by wet weather. At times i can actually act like a weather forecast for rain lol. I also get the pain in my bottom and going down my legs but that is sciatica. I hate winter because it can be agony when its really wet. At the same time i cannot stand the heat as that too affects my RLS. If the RLS kicks in while i have sciatica it is absolute agony.

You are not alone! I've heard that others suffer with RLS in their nether regions and it can be unbearable apparently.

I have always been able to tell when it is going to rain because of the effect it has on my RLS. When i was younger the family used to joke about my legs being weather men lol. However the pain in the buttock and down the legs sounds more like sciatica which i recently started to suffer from so i suggest you have a word with your doc as it may take some anti inflammatory tablets to clear that up. But yes the weather definitely affects my RLS.

My experience is that most RLS starts in one leg and a lot of people it remains there but like myself I have it is my entire body so it doesn't seem to have any real specifics bit is different for each person.
