Sitting on an exercising ball whilst watching TV!

I have bought a large exercising ball recently because it was suggested from my physiotherapist. Since, everytime my legs become restless, I sit on the exercising ball when I'm watching TV. I think it helps and what do you think?

I would do that. Say how it works to the rest of us. Good thinking.

In insight, I should not have put a link to Amazon!! Make sure you check everything before you click on buy. The ball I bought also included a pump. So please check everything before you buy.

You can buy a cheap exercising ball at Amazon, the link I used is: amazon.co.uk/Yoga-Mad-Exer-...

I don't do anything special when I use it. I just watch TV sitting on it and the ball forces you to be active in trying to keep your balance. It is also very good in giving you a good work out for the whole of your back. I use the exercising ball as soon as I can feel that my RLS is beginning to kick off. It happened last night. I could feel that my legs were becoming restless so I fetched the ball immediately, bounced and rolled on it and the RLS went on its own.

I mild RLS but if I don't tackle it as soon as I can feel the signs, then I won't sleep that night. So for me the trick is to tackle RLS immediately. I have been prescribed Ropinerole but I have not taken them because I seem to be able to manage without them. I find that paracetamol and codeine also work but at the moment, my first coping strategy is bouncing and moving about on the exercising ball!!

If you get an exercising ball, let me know if it works for you too please?

Take care

Oh wow, I'm going to try this and send you flowers if it works. My rls is so bad that I have often been in tears at 2,3 or 4:00 in morning, not having slept, sometimes for several nights when I have a bad bout of it.

This is not magic but it helps me. I would not stop taking you medications though. This is just a coping mechanism! I think that bouncing about helps relax muscles in the back and also it keeps my head busy away from my legs. So I think that's how it works. If you follow my link, please check everything in case that something has changed since. When you buy an exercising ball, you should also get a pump included because the ball gets delivered deflated. It takes awhile to inflate but stays inflated after that. Good luck.

I do remember someone else on the forum before this one started up, saying that the exercise ball helped him immensely.

I use mine just about everyday. I don't do any exercises with it but just sit on it, roll back and forth and bounce. It's quite fun and I do that whilst watching TV. Good luck if you decide to buy one!!

Hi, I have found too that bouncing on my daughter's exercise ball helps the RLS. When she moves out I'm going to have to buy one of my own!

Oh! that's interesting!! I am so glad to find that someone else is having the fun with the exercise ball and that it helps with their RLS. Thank you so much for letting me know that :-)
