Hi Jb. Great question! The summer is on my mind actually. I’ve got lots going on: a six week placement for my uni course (I’m a mature student) my mum’s wedding, camping in the lakes and then hopefully working lots in my summer job to earn money for my final year of uni. I’m nervous about my first summer smokefree as last time I quit (8 months) I relapsed in June when I was tortured by the smell of beer gardens. However, my placement this June will be new and exciting and it will be great not to stink of fags and worry about smoke breaks (it’s a healthcare setting). Also this will be one of the best wedding presents I could give my mum. I know there’s going to be lots of triggers but hopefully these positives will see me through. And I’m going to try to be more of a healthy, walkie camper rather than a smoky folky one πŸ˜‚. How about you? Anything else apart from the kitchen? Will this be your second smokefree summer?

Hello Ryan, welcome to Quit Support and well done on your decision to be smokefree. It's not the easiest thing to do but the best thing you could ever do for yourself and will give you all the support we can.

I can suggest that you have a look at the pinned posts which you will find either to the right or at the bottom of your screen. There you will find lots of useful tips and information to support you in your quit.

You will need to decide whether you want to quit using NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) or cold turkey (without any aids) again you will find information on these in the pinned posts.

Write a list of the pros and cons of smoking and keep it close and finally pick a day in the near future to quit. Remember to keep us close we are here to support and let us know your actual quit date.

Also so we don't lose you, please write a fresh post, so that you are easily recognised as you could be missed in someone else post.

Not what you're looking for?
