Sometimes I get bad anxiety I want food a cigarette or sometime s I dont know what I want
Hi loomis63, welcome to this quit site
We all have different symptoms when we stop smoking. Anxiety was not one of mine however my brain was driving me mad about what I wanted. If I craved for a ciggie I told it no and It felt I should be doing something so I ate (and am still eating....). There were times when I just didn't know what I wanted to do.....
For me it was just trying to ignore the cravings and do something else to take my mind off the cigs.... once I found this site then it was easy, I just came on and posted. It took my mind off it and really helped.
There is also a support site for anxiety sufferers on here too that you may want to join as well and double up on your support to help your quit.
I am sure Emjay, our lovely support advisor, can give you a bit more advice
Please try and stay positive and strong and we will all help you as much as we can
Hello loomis63 and Goodmorning! I too have anxiety issues and they just skyrocketed when I quit. A routine was a very safe and knowing place for me and when you quit that routine gets kicked to the curb and your body just needs to adjust to a new one.
Pay attention to your breathing. Slow deep breaths-in and out-counting to 10.
Exercise!!! Try a little 5-10 minute walk. Something nice and slow! Keeps your mind and body busy
Make sure you aren't going to heavy on the caffeine intake
Watching a movie... nothing like getting into the story of a good movie to take your mind off things
As per food... I noticed my hunger has grown since I quit. I did some research and found out that veggies help fill me up during those cravings... and if I am craving something sweet I grab some fruit which has natural sugars Don't get me wrong I love donuts... and chocolate... and icecream... candy... chips... Well I just love food in general
Water... water is my BEST Friend! I have learned a lot during these quitting days and one of the number one things I learned is that you can never have enough water. Also keep a bottle of water by me and stay hydrated
Hopefully those anxiety trips will soon pass Keep that head held high and Stay Strong
