How do you go about quitting smoking? I have my e-cig here which I plan to start tomorrow, alongside having the odd cigarette to help the craving until the e-cig takes over this craving. What else can I do to help this go smoothly so that I don't go back onto cigarettes?

Hi there, well done on taking the first step to quitting! I'd highly recommend you contact your local NHS stop smoking service for support. If you live in Hampshire you can call Quit4Life on 01252 335120, and if you are elsewhere you can find your local UK service here: nhs.uk/smokefree/help-and-a... NHS stop smoking services offer free support from specialist advisers, who can talk you through quitting using an e-cigarette, and can advise if you need any additional help with curbing cravings (such as gum etc) plus planning for the future, smoke-free. Best of luck, let us know how you get on! Anna@Quit4Life
Everyone is different and it depends whether you can cope with 3-5 days of cold turkey. It’s not that bad and it is worth it to be free of patches and nicotine. It’s another 5 weeks to completely forget about cigarettes when you have coffee and wine for example, but difficult days = 5 max - some people say 3 days, then it gets easier and easier. 1st day isn’t so bad, 3rd day is perhaps the hardest. Try to stay away from people, keep busy, get through it and trust me, it really does pass.
