Not only has mum got psp ,been to the hospital today only be told by the heart specialist that she has severe heart failure as well .I know she is 86 years of age ,but really psp is bad enough without this in top as well

At a similar age my mum was also diagnosed with heart disease as well as CBD. I actually hoped hers would take her quicker. As it was her heart disease was not that severe and she had to endure the appalling deterioration of CBD. You will know your mum and what matters to her and whether aggressive treatment of the heart disease is a good idea.

Hi messierUnfortunately they can't give her any medication,because liver and kidney function isn't great,so we are where we are unfortunately

Heart failure is common in older prople, three of my grandparents on their 80s were diagnosed with it. Two of them have passed now and they just went to sleep and didn’t wake up in the morning - sounds like the best way to go if that’s your time.

My Mum has PSP and CBD, is 70 and to be honest at times I wish something else would help her not to suffer these illnesses as at an estimated 6.5 years in things are continually getting worse, she’s scared, in pain and has no interdependence now.

There’s never an easy way to loose a parent, focus on the better times, it’s all you can do.

My guy was diagnosed with congestive heart failure several years before he died. It had no observable effect on his strength or lifespan. His doctor said it was often not as serious as it sounds. Try not to worry about things you can’t control. Love your mother as best you can while you can. And hugs to you. Peace. Ec
