Adoey here, I haven't written in a while. I'm having a problem with Phlegm. Lately, I'm coughing phlegm with blood. Has anyone had this happen to them? It's rather scary. I live alone and have been diagnosed with PSP four years ago. Any help on this subject would be much appreciated. thanks so much.

Hi Adoey - it’s possible that it’s nothing major, but never assume that everything happening to you is linked with PSP! Coughing up blood more than a couple of times should always be something to see the doctor about.

Hello Adoey,

As Messier says its possible it's nothing major and also not psp linked, however we were told it can be a sign of infection so it's probably worth making an appointment with your gp now rather than waiting to be on the safe side.

Best wishes.

morning I would say this is something for your doctor. Probably not related but better to get it checked. Take care 💜

Thank you, 45 Purple, I will get it checked out as soon as I can. I don't think it has anything to do with the PSP, but not certain.

Hugs and best wishes to you.

I had a similar issue and my GP got me a chest X-ray and put me on a course of antibiotics. My chest was clear and therefore I assume the blood was as a result of the cathartic coughing brought on by a persistent tickle in my throat. It can be as simple as that! Whether it’s a symptom of My PSP is anyone’s guess .

I hope this reassures you.
