How does drinking alcohol effect PSP and CBD?

Medical advice was not to drink, but how does it effect someone?

I suppose it doesn’t help, except to the extent it makes someone relaxed and happy. My guy never drank too much, but he enjoyed a glass of Jameson’s, a glass of Pinot Grigio or a rum and coke or, when we were in Ireland, a pint of Guinness, and I never thought it did him a lick of harm. He enjoyed life as much as he could as long as he could.

answered my own question, now in a&e with a massive gash for stitches as she fell out of bed

My husband has a small glass of red wine some evenings. I'm letting him have this as I don't want to remove the little pleasures he is able to have when si many other jobs in life are no longer there for him. Off course heavy drinking would be a high risk so I make sure when impulsively kick in I discourage more drinks. But I do think he would fall anyway one small drink or not. Our neurologist said go ahead and enjoy

Hello there. My husband would fall with or without a drink so a small whisky every night at 6pm is one of the only pleasures he has left and it does not seem to affect his behaviour but sadly his swallowing is beginning to deteriorate so I let him enjoy his drinks while he still can. Everything in moderation ...All the best.

Mum's not been told to avoid alcohol and like others here, wouldn't want to deny her one of the few pleasures left. The SLT just reminds us to put a little thickener into the G&T!

Sorry you're now in A&E and hope wound gets stitched. Unless she had a heavy drinking session there may not have been a direct correlation, just like Wigwambob said.

On special occasions, I spoon feed my wife Champaign. She enjoys the very moderate amount, and as long she isn't choking, I see no harm. Indeed, she would enjoy small sip of beer on warm days.Dosco

The effects of alcohol will differ from patient to patient, just as symptoms will. I continue to enjoy a cold beer, a glass of wine, Kentucky bourbon, and a good single malt scotch... all in moderation. PSP has taken so much from me, I will not deny myself some liquid indulgence, or chocolate and ice cream for that matter.

My partner only has a light beer on Friday with his mates if he is dying why deny that weekly pleasure I don't think alcohol has anything to do with causing psp ...if you asked me what triggered psp I would say chemotherapy

My hubby used to enjoy a glass of red wine or a nip of whisky but as this condition progresses he gets less and less interested in alcohol, lucky if he has anymore than 2 alcoholic drinks per month. If he does fancy a drink he can have one but more interested in fruit juice. Px

I don’t believe alcohol causes PSP or CBD but from evidence last night it does cause further imbalance which unfortunately for my mum resulted in falling head first into a bedside table corner and required 9 stitches down the middle of her forehead. And 22 hours in A&E.

Even she said it, no more drink I’m pissed enough without adding more learnt my lesson.
