loss of taste

been a while i have been having some changes. still having leg pains and cramps mainly at night. muscle relaxants help some. starting to have some swallowing problems, i have to keep a drink nearby at all times. sleep problems a big problem. some nights i don't sleep at all, but on average I don't sleep more than 4-5 hours a night. my big question is does anyone experience loss of sense of taste? i have not been able to taste anything for several months. doctors have no idea what the cause is and why it is lasting so long. first thought was covid but lab tests show i have not had covid. so i thought maybe some of y'all has had the same problem. thanks for any help.

Yes my loved one went through this her loss of taste lasted close to 6 months. She all the sudden wanted her food with lots of hot sauce, however she wasn't able to taste it either. Then after that everything tasted old to her or soured and it wasn't. Best wishes to you

I'm in my 9th year with PSP and haven't experienced any loss of taste. First time I'm hearing of the issue. Legs... they continue to be my greatest nemesis. Restless legs, contractures, some dystonia in my right leg, overall stiffness and heaviness. Baclofen helps some, but exercise has been more effective. Sadly, more symptoms to come... all part of Brain Game Roulette.

In my research on those things, I have read a lot of doctors recommending Zinc to help with the loss of taste/smell and to take with quercetin for better absorption, and magnesium to help with the leg cramps/pain at night. The magnesium helps my father a lot with the same.

My mum hasn’t had a sense of taste or smell for about 6 years now, it was one of the first symptoms that showed up. Although her consultant doesnt think it is linked to the PSP. I’m so sorry that you are suffering with it too, who knows if it is to do with PSP, but it would make sense to me that it is. She’s lost everything, it so sad that she can’t even get enjoyment from eating or smelling the flowers. I hope yours comes back.

Lost my sense of taste about 2 years ago. It’s become a joke with my daughter when I ask “Have they changed the recipe on this?” Or I’ll describe something as “having hints of the flavor of kitchen cleaner” .

It has come and gone, and right now I can’t taste anything on the left side of my mouth but the right side is good. You may want to experiment to see if you can still taste citrus in different parts of your mouth.

The taste of food is one of the few pleasures I have left. When it’s gone life really will be less enjoyable.

In the meanwhile, the other night I had spicy French fries and a chocolate shake for dinner. There was no nutrition to it but man it tasted great!
