Leaning

Hi just wanted to know if it is normal for my husband to lean to the left and he won’t stand up straight?

Thanks for your help.

I’m curious about this as well. My dad leans to the left as well.

Hi Penny, this was first strange thing I noticed with my hubby after other problems in 2013. He showed obvious weaker muscles, but quite suddenly walked with a lean to left one evening. He was not aware of it when I mentioned it. He seemed to manage to straighten after I called his attention to it.He did not seem to lean again. Earlier that same year, it was obvious that the left side was weaker than the other. He used to drag the left leg and had pain down that side of his back back.

I hope you able to find something that helps your husband. You may need to persuade him to use a walking aid.

Hugs

He can’t walk he is in a wheelchair. His right side is the side that is weaker .

Had that problem too, once my hubby was in hospital. He slumped sideways in any chair and we did our best to support him with a pillow pushed down that side. Sadly it did not always work Keep on trying!

Hi Penny, Yes this is quite common. My husband was always worse if he was tired orit was a good sign that he was unwell. Just a warning that if he is using a chair in the shower make sure that it has arms but ones that swing up not outwards as my husband slumped so much one day that he pushed the arm away and fell out. Good luck and take care. Big hug AliBee.

Afraid this is pretty typical. Definitely varied from day to day and tried to use cushions to keep Mum as straight as possible, especially when eating.

Interesting. My mom's left side is weaker and she will lean in that direction.

That’s why I thought it so strange because his right side is the weak side and he is leaning to the left. This disease is so strange, I just wish I new what stage he is in. Hope you have a blessed day.

I lean to the left side when walking as that side is weaker. When I'm standing still (which is not often as I'm wobbly) I favor the right leg because it is more stable, so I have a slight rightward lean.

Thanks that really helps me not worry.

Hello, My dad always used to lean to the side, we were constantly propping him up with pillows and cushions. As his CBD progressed he struggled to stand.

Wishing you all the best

My husband leans constantly to the right. This has been going on for about 6 months. A pillow sometimes helps but only as a reminder for him to sit up straighter. Seems to be one more issue with this insidious disease. Wishing you all the best as you care for your loved one.

Just joining the chorus of “yes”. I don’t know if it is in every case, but a majority in the cases I know about. Leaning was an early and prominent marker in mom’s presentation of symptoms.
