Hi all my husband has CBD age 57 he is confused, unsettled, depressed, agitated, full of angst and worry. Doesnt know me, his son, his home most of the time. Some of his behaviours remind me of my father who has vascular dementia. Dad has anti psychotic medication. Has anyone has anti psychotic medication for their loved one with these brain diseases please ?

Hello Northstar1, my partner has a diagnosis of atypical parkinism with PSP and msa traits and is on clonazepam 2 tablets at night. But these were given for his rem sleep disorder. Thankfully at the moment they are working. He was jumping around in the bed and shouting out every night. And I mean shouting. I was exhausted and so was he. Possibly not much help to you though. Best wishes jellybenz x

Hi, Jellybenz, my husband has CBD and over the last couple of months has started screaming and yelling in his sleep also making strange LOUD sounds. I'm also exhausted never sleep longer than 1-2 hrs without being woke up. What does your husband take and does it help him sleep sounder/quieter ?

Yes that's exactly what my husband did. And he would shout out as well and when I say shout I mean shout lol Plus he would also thrash out with his arms and legs as well. He has 2 clonzapine and also 2 mirtazapine (anti depressants) It has helped stop it completely until the last 2 days but still better than it was. Neurologist prescribed these tablets. Good luck not saying they will.work forever but have done well so far for us. Also ear plugs help for you. You can still hear when your needed bit muffle the shouting so you wont be disturbed as much. Best wishes Jellybenz x x

Thank you for your reply. Earplugs..that is a great idea. Yes he shouts out so loud and makes other strange noises. I know it has to be miserable being unable to move much. He does not move his right arm or leg, however he does his left quite a bit. Wishing you the Best

I take clonazepam... similar situation to Jellybenze. If you can, make an appointment with a neuropsychiatrist - even if it's virtual. He or she will suggest the right medication for your husband's behaviour.

Hi. My Mum takes 30mg Mirtazepine which helps her anxiety and 12.5mg quetiapine at night which is an antipsychotic medication. Ask your doctor about them. Good luck. X

Thankyou or your reply. Was it prescribed by a psychiatrist and was it due to behaviours please x

Yes and yes! Mum has always been quite an anxious person but I think her CBD has made her anxiety worse. Since she's been on the Mirtazepine, she's seems more settled. The reason for the Quetiapine was to help with her paranoia (one night she thought a burglar had broken into the house). Again, she seems more settled, but I must admit, it's a tough balancing act trying to get the dosage right, as both meds have a sedative effect. I'm sure though your doctor will be able to help with this. Hope that's of some help to you both. x
