Yesterday I felt like walking on air. Could not help myself, felt like I am on another planet. And fell. Could not walk on legs

Walking on air
Hello MontanaV
I'm not sure what to make of your post.
Are you OK?
Do you suffer from PSP or CBD?
This is a forum for those illnesses.
Do come back and say more.
Best to you
Kevin
Kevin, I think I did not really understand what PSP is. I am not diagnosed with it, I fall easy and have a problem balancing. Maybe it's something else.
Thanks
Hi MontanaV
I'm so sorry to hear that.
There are so many different reasons for falling without warning.
PSP and CBD certainly, but also many other things like Labyrinthitis and often something can be done to recover from that.
I'm guessing from your name that you live in the States. If you haven't already you might consider seeing a Movement Specialist. These are neurologists and they are the best to pin down precisely what is causing your problem.
It must be horrid for you. I'm sorry.
Wishing you the best
Warmly
Kevin
Might l suggest using a cane or walker (for safety sake) until you can see a doctor. Neuropathy can also cause falls... be safe. Granni B
Thanks for the advice. Will certainly try it.
Dear MontanaV,
You came to the right place, whatever your ultimate diagnosis. Falling for no reason is a primary symptom of PSP and, I believe, one of the reasons PSP seems rarer than it is. Falling is dangerous! It must be taken seriously. Have you consulted a doctor?
I was just reading an article about a woman in the US who went undiagnosed for three years as her falling escalated. She was told she was clumsy! She didn't have any of the other markers for Parkinson's disease, but that was ultimately her diagnosis. Because Parkinson's may respond to medication as PSP generally won't, this was not the worst news she could get.
Not everyone with PSP falls, and those who do most often fall backwards, but it varies so much according to the individual it isn't an absolute determinant. My guy's gait was odd and he dragged one foot. He fell backwards, too.
I am interested in the way you describe the feeling you had before falling. My guy would say he felt woozy very often, but it didn't necessarily precede a fall. The falls came without warning! Very scary!
Carers outnumber people with PSP on this site, so I think it's really valuable to us to hear from you and others who can describe their symptoms and share their experience of having this (or a similar) illness.
Also, I assume you are in the US, like me, so you don't have access to the support system that the folks in Britain have. Even with this pandemic going around, it should be possible to talk to a doctor. Many GPs offices are actually hurting for lack of business. I do hope you can get some proper advice.
Stay in touch, please.
