My husband has PSP and dementia. I saw a programme about weighted blankets for insomnia but have just seen suitability for dementia and also for disturbed sleep (PSP). Has anyone any evidence of these or used please?

I have not heard of it, but do know that I sleep better when I have a heavy blanket or comforter. Am a light sleeper and it just makes me feel cozy or something so I relax.

I had never heard of these blankets until someone recommended it. I know this is anecdotal, but I decided to test the concept on my mother (100 yrs). She has vivid dreams and really loud talking or screaming in her sleep. I just used a heavy crocheted lap blanket in addition to her regular blanket. So far it has worked like a charm. :)

Its something that my daughter is looking into for my husband. Take a look at therapybrand.co.uk you have a differnet weight of blanket depending on your body weight.

Hi, I bought one for my husband and it helped calm him down a lot until towards the end of his life when it did not seem to have such a good effect. The blanket has to be 10% of the person's body weight. All the best AliBee xx

I’ve been researching them too as my husband ends up completely tangled in his duvet . They look amazing and I think we’ll go ahead and buy one
