I'm new to this site and have so many questions so I'm keeping them coming. My husband has swelling in his feet, ankles and all the way to his knees. The skin is taut and almost purple at times. His calves are very tight and stiff. Is this just from inactivity or is it part of PSP?

Feet and leg edema
Inactivity I would guess. Keeping them elevated would help the fluid drain. Larry had one foot swollen for some time. When I gave his stool softeners the swelling went down as the softener pulled water from the body to the intestines.
My husband had leg swelling at the time he was diagnosed with PSP. However, his was due to congestive heart failure. He was diagnosed with CHF and PSP within a week of each other. I never felt like one was connected with the other. You might be wise to see your primary doctor about the leg swelling just in case. At least there is effective treatment for CHF.

Talk to his doctor but I guess inactive. As already started keeping the legs elevated, massage them and if possible look at getting some compression socks. Gravity wants to pull the fluid into the lowest part of the body, while seated this is the legs. Normal walking during the day makes the legs muscles into a sort of pump that forces the liquid back up in to core section to be flushed out.
