After weeks of eating just a few teaspoons here and there mums swollow has now stopped working. All food and fluids have been withdrawn and a syringe driver started. She smiled at the nurse as she told her she had come to near the end of her disease and that she was going to make sure she is more comfortable.

Is a syringe driver the same as a feeding tube? I am so new to this terrible disease

No. My wife is on both. Syringe driver delivers medication by injection. Feeding tube delivers liquid food into the stomach. My wife's drugs are to control symptoms of the disease and not yet end of life care. Best wishes. Ken.

I hope she has a peaceful passing. All you can do is the most important thing - that she knows she is loved.

It's a sad time but take comfort knowing your mom will be at rest soon. I just went through this same stage with dad in Sept. I truely hope her passing is as peaceful as my father's was.
