A lovely painting, and so “free”. I started learning to paint about 6 years ago, going to a U3A class when my husband was at the Hospice day centre. After my first painting took so long and I spent ages on the detail my art teacher suggested I may find the photography group more suitable. She was joking and I’m still going. She lost her husband to cancer this year and we are now great friends. I still have difficulty trying not to paint like a photo though. I’d love to be able to paint like you.

Wow, that's beautiful Jim, you must have a free spirit to let yourself go to produce a painting with such free brushwork. I intend to take up painting soon, I'm a little bit scared as I know that letting yourself go to paint without be inhibited is pretty difficult and I know I won't be satisfied with just copying pictures, I want to develop my own style. Not in the right frame of mind at the mo having recently lost Ben.
