Larry tried azilect. It was ineffective. It is worth while trying it. It may work for your father.
Hi Steff
I'm with Jeff on this.
It's worth trying Parkinson's medication like this. PSP does not normally respond to them. Having said that there are a number of variants of PSP and some people here have had positive symptom relief from them.
They do not slow the illness's progression (I think) but they do help to sustain muscular functionality.
Exercise, no matter how slight, also helps to preserve functionality. It is important to exercise those arms and legs and to weight bear for as long as is safely possible.
I would also suggest that if you do not see an improvement after a month or so, then go back to the doctor and say so. Discuss whether they should be stopped. There is a tendency with chronic illnesses to keep adding medications to try to assuage different symptoms. It is important to stop the ones which are no longer effective. Otherwise your Dad's body will have to cope with those on top of the illness.
I hope this helps
Best to you
Kevin
Thank you so much for this
It was like taking a $300/month sugar pill. No improvements at all for PSP. Fairly effective for normal Parkinson’s.
