Dear all, seeking some understanding of mum’s sudden deterioration. Last few days Mum has not been good she has shown symptoms as if she has had a stroke but tests show she has not. Today it’s as if her legs have suddenly decided to stop working and she is really tired the home are testing for an infection but just feel it’s not that and condition has taken another twist any suggestion or insight greatly received x x

It could be PSP or could be an infection. This happened to my husband and he had pneumonia despite not having any symptoms.

Maybe she needs to be seen by a doctor just in case?

Feeling cold can also be a symptom of PSP there was an interesting discussion about that last week I think. Many reported their loved ones were always cold. It seems they are unable to regulate their bodies as they go downhill. I am sure the doctor will know if she has pneumonia. If she does she needs intravenous antibiotics in hospital. Good luck and let us know how she gets on?

My husband had what we guess was CBD.

During his illness at one point he suddenly could not sit up over a period of 24 hours. Beforehand he had a very sleepy period and very high blood pressure readings. Since I was unable to handle him on my own, he went to hospital for observation and tests.

So this seems to not be unusual and may be part of the progression of the disease your mum is suffering from.

Big hugs to you all! Stay strong!

Dad, CBD, has had a few instances where he has lost the ability to do something almost overnight.

My husband (CBD) had a "downturn" 3 weeks ago. Couldn't get in or out of bed - had lost all sense of how to move - and cognition took a noticeable dip down. He rebounded a little, but not to the same level as before. There was no cause for this change that I could see.

Now a "new normal" : very shaky, extremely slow, tiny steps, using walker, appetite decreased, even slower thinking than before. Others have said that the downward progression is more like a "stair step" down, rather than a smooth curve....

Hugs to you Greens - Stay strong! XXX

My hubby had PSP and was unable to control his body temperature. One minute he was very very cold and the next was exceedingly hot. Second guessing as to what is wrong does not come easy, but I always contacted our district matron/doctor and asked for a home visit just to be sure medication was not required. Jxx
