I think someone might already have posted this here. If so nods to them.
Anyone who applied to register a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) between 1st April 2013 and 31st March 2017 could be entitled to a refund of up to £108, after cost savings made by the Office of the Public Guardian were not passed on to consumers. The OPG is the public body which registers Lasting Powers of Attorney and, as a non-profit making Government office, it should have passed on efficiency savings to the public by way of reduced registration fees for LPAs.
Agree Kevin! Thanks this has been on my to do list for few weeks and will no doubt be there a while longer!! Enough to drive you quite insane really!! X
Yes I did for my own it was a simple process took only a few minutes to do and the website talks you through it. It is completely different if you are claiming on behalf of a deceased person however. We tried to start the process online for my dad’s and the website directed me to telephone instead but couldn’t get through at the time, so sent them an email instead, with all the relevant details in it. They then got back to me by email instructing me of next steps, which included sending details of Grant of Probate etc and they said that they would ring me then to make an application over the telephone once I had been identified as being an executor etc. I am still waiting for their call. However, I have today been notified that the repayment of my personal rebate should be received within 10 working days. Basically it is simple but like all things official it takes a while for them to process. Good luck. Ruth x
Thanks for the reminder Kevin, I've been meaning to do it after Amanda sent the info. Will have a bit of time and space from tomorrow as Ben goes for week of respite today ( feeling guilty already)
I know, I know Amanda, I keep telling myself he will be fine but he looks do vulnerable laying there in the recliner they provided. I'm shattered now as all the things you have to provide and the amount of notes they need to take. Hoping this home will prove better for him, they certainly seem very caring, fingers crossed.
Thanks Kevin. Like many others it was somewhere on my to-do list but I've now made the application and it took very little time. We made 4 LPAs so I should get over £120 refunded.
I need to do this, and I think looking at the list there would be a refund of £90.
I was executor for Davids will, but don't have probate, as it wasn't required for his estate, hopefully that won't be needed!
If I get the refund I might put it into a Tribute garden on the PSP website for David, which I am currently setting up belatedly to pay in the collection from Davids funeral. Then it can do some more good belatedly.
It's a feature on the PSP Association website, where you can post a tribute to your lost loved one. You can post pictures, stories, light candles to them internet style, and it also allows donations to be made, and keeps a total amount raised etc.
I think it can be linked to just giving and the like, and if it can't, a lady at the PSP assoc can manually do it in the background for you.
I'm going to set one up with some pics etc, and donate the money from Davids funeral, and set up a small monthly payment.
I'm also going to run the Great North Run this year in aid of PSP, but more on that on a forthcoming thread 😄
