I wrote on here a few weeks ago asking for advice on chc reviews. I thank all for the advice I recieved with special thanks to Amanda who's help came through from Kevin.
My Dad had his assessment after the 3 month fast track was coming to an end. It was hard to sit there talking about my Dad as though he wasn't there, listening to the nurse go through all aspects of his condition & needs. I cried, it was so hard to go over everything thread by thread. My dad sat there expressionless throughout. I was heartbroken.
The good (is it ever good) news is that he has been granted CHC for another 12 months. So the worry of that side of things is no longer there.
The bad news is my Dad came down with another chest infection on Monday.
Great news about CHC. Such a tortuous road to get it though. I hope your dad gets over the infection. He has enough to put up with every day without that on top. Take care.
So pleased you got CHC - no more than you deserve. The awful part is the stress that they put you through to get what is your due.
I don`t think your Dad had to be there for the assessment -they ought to ask if you want him there. It is so difficult to talk when your loved one is listening, even if they aren`t fully aware of what`s going on.
