Charles always clasps his hands together. We communicate with fingers - one is yes, two is no - but since he holds his hands together it is very difficult to judge his answers. I get frustrated.
Does anyone have this occur with their PSP patient? It is yet another weird manifestation.

This disease is crazy! Such a silly little thing, but everyone the same. Steve too, held his hands together. Like Colin, thumbs up for yes, hidden for no.
Yes, Ronnie does too. The one finger for 'Yes', two for 'No' and three for 'Don't Know' have been our only way to communicate. But I have to ask the right questions.
However, one hand's fingers have muscle spasms and the hand tends to clench and need to be prised open, and cannot be fully opened too. Occupational therapist suggested certain exercises to relax and open up the fingers. The other hand is also starting to have these spasms.
My dad just cant move his left hand. It appears like a hand affected by paralysis and clenched. Not sure if this particularly is anything to worry - over and above what PSP gives already. He does keep the palm open but the hand in itself isn't straight.
Cuttercat - hope you were able to change the 1 and 2 to thumbs up & none. my dad wouldn't support any such communication techniques. If we continue to lecture him on how any communication code would help, he would clearly ask us to not bother him.
