Has acupuncture worked for anyone? I have been taking it 2 times a week for 5 months without any improvement.

Hi Lynda,

I have not tried acupuncture but as a physiotherapist I know several colleagues who use it. In general, it is found to help with muscle spasm and pain control and can also have a beneficial effect on sleep patterns (something to do with endorphins I beleive). I do not think it would necessarily have any benefit in improving balance/co-ordination etc or other symptoms of PSP. The person providing your therapy should be reviewing any benefit regularly and should be honest enough to tell you if it is not having an effect. If you are not seeing any benefit from it I would question whether it is worth continuing - especially if you are paying for it yourself!!

You could always "skip" a couple of sessions and see if you notice a change in your symptoms before deciding whether to continue.

Best wishes

love Kathy xx

Jeff tried it for a couple of monthes with a combo of Chinese herb drinks. It did nothing but empty his wallet!

I believe in eastern medicine as I have had success with other things by having acupunture etc. The quack he was seeing saw an open wallet and a deperate man and took total advantage of it.

I say, try anything and everything because PSP manifests itself differently for different people. What doesn't work for some may give some comfort to others.

Hi Lynda - I second Jeff - my dad used acupunture and chinese herb for months -no improvement -just drained his wallet - -I think the best thing that worked for my dad was range of motion exercises done religiously and a motorized pedelar -exercise really made him feel better

hi lynda,

i have cbd but i havent tried acupunture but i do see a holistic

therapist about once or twice a week and i find this realey helps,

she dose a therapy called emotional freedom technique which

involves tapping on the energy meridian points on your body, it is

a unique version of acupuncture except you dont use needles and

it provides relief from pain, diseases, and stress, and emotional issues,

and once you you learn how to do it you can use it on your self, the

therapist can even teach you how to do it over the phone , the last time

i see the consultant neurologist he said i had made a slight improvement

which he put down to the holistic therapy so if you wont to speak to her on

the phone her name is karen peters bsc (hons) 01787 463313 or 07752

607404 and she will explain it all hope thiis helps,

kind regards
