Most of the time it's your diet! Too much dairy, or other foods that don't break down in your body properly. If it's just occasional and not combined with bloody stools severe pain, diarrhea, you might just change your diet.....Also there is an OTC (over the counter, no prescription needed) medicine that can alleviate the problem, Beano...named after I guess, beans which can give you gas.

So reduce your food intake such as fructose and dairy note what you eat and when it starts and try to eliminate that food.

Also exercise if your moving everything is moving and that helps the bowels leave....not just hang out in the intestine and "fester"

Drink water helps move the bowels and try to make sure you are eliminating daily

Most peoples waist disposal program happens in the morning

That's cuz of convenience and coffee.....I found this out a while back, coffee activates BM'S!.....Make sense now......

Well dear, the only other remedy is charcoal filter undies (they really have them)

and a room of your own....

Hi jill so glad you back on line.

I am sorry that i have no words of wisdom over your problem but will say that Brian is very good at farting and we all laugh about it.

It is all to do with your bowels are moving (getting the waste where it needs to be). So it is a natural by product of life.

I know it is embarrassing but try not to worry about it. I also forgot to say that the older we get the less muscle control we have wich means we are more likely to have natural wind rather then (cabbage soup diet) wind.

And being as you in the same situation as Brian very little or no proper mobility does make the bowels sluggish. Janexx

Jill i wouldn't worry about having a bit of wind. Our matron always says it's a sighn that the bowels are working. Having worked in elder care for the last umpteen years i do know that wind is part and parcel of life. Stand someone up or sit them down and they trumpet away.

We all do it even the queen. And it doesn't mean you will become incontinent. If you have a real lot of wind and it is painful you could have a word with your gp but if not painful think about getting a kite......

And it sounds like you're not constipated so it sounds like your diet suits you. Things like cabbage and califlower and Brussels can cause wind. Also the reckon if you have fruit after dinner that can cause wind.

But if you can put up with the trumpet voluntary don't worry (oh yes stress can do it as well) if you want you can join my band we have only got a wind section so far.

I forgot to say welcome back. Unless you live with a bunch of people who want to steal all of your info, I would get rid of too many passwords OR do as I do and write them down and put them in your rollodex......Don't forget to define what pswd is for.....I had to redo a few cuz I forgot what they were for....hahahaha

Anyway Jillann, glad your keyboard is user friendly (?)

Well, if this is another symptom of PSP, that explains why S has it so bad!!!!! It is probably more to do with the muscles not so strong anymore and you can't control them! This, I'm afraid, is PSP related and of course, age!!! Nothing you can do, I'm afraid, Jill, though I love the idea of charcoal filter knickers, that AVB has suggested!!!!

Lots of love

My wife rarely passes wind, but probably because she's on a PEG feeding tube. Her feed doesn't provide a lot of fiber, which often causes wind. I add a fiber supplement to her feed, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect. I can be very gassy, but I've been told mine are more like roses or French perfume. LOL

OMG ... there really is such a thing ... check this out on Amazon: smile.amazon.com/Shreddies-...

But there's no way I'd pay $70 for some drawers. Just pinch your nose and breathe through your mouth. It won't kill you. Well, at least I think it won't.

Better out than in Jill as the old saying goes. Xx

A farten horse will never tire

A farten man is the man to hire

old English saying

obviously job qualifications were less than today.

The animal / human digestive system rely on bacteria and enzymes to break down the food into sugars that are used by the body. As we age some of this is lost and our ability to digest some things is reduced, especially after having taken antibiotics for an extended time. Gas is the incomplete digestion by product. Beano as already suggested is very effective in adding digestive assistance . Prune juice everyday in small amounts say a small juice glass, and when drank after a hot coffee will keep things moving nicely. You may have to cut down on some foods especially some vegetables. If you are with people etc ,do not hold it in. Just learn to look at somebody else or the dog so that they take the blame. The dog can not protest , but if he gives you the look first , you are beat. Just do not let it bother, worry or restrict you, diapers of many different kinds can help. Just keep on tooten along.
