Hi, has anyone seen the Daily Express today? they are talking about a drug that washes the brain of all the crap that build up in the brain for people with Alzheimer's!!! Sounds brilliant, when are they going to try it on PSP? We all know they are fairly similar diseases, I.e. Proteins get tangled up in the brain, so you never know.........
OK! I know it was the Daily Express, but one day they might print something of value, it could be today ✈️🐷🐷🐷🐷✈️
Those of you not in the UK, the Express print a medical story every other day, alternating, with a severe warning about the weather! So to be taken with a very large pinch of salt, but at least it sounds as if they are moving with Alzheimer's! Which PSP, may get a lucky break. Cheered me up anyway!
Just been Christmas shopping! Life now does have its benefits! Did all the presents, no rows, no bored man complaining, just had someone to plonk all the gifts on. So I didn't even have to carry anything!!! Did make it easy this year, thought of one present and got everyone the same. Nightwear! Simple, easy and practical! Don't need to worry about if it would suit them, just the size mattered! So S wasn't laden down with heavy goods! Now just got to wrap them, that's going to be fun, with a crazy animal, who is trying for the world record of how much paper he can get into his tiny body!!!
Wallowing in the feeling of normality for a few previous moments. Been a tough couple of weeks, hopefully, settling down now, until the next crisis!

In Korea they have found a chemical that is in energy drinks that can help clear the toxins that cause alzeimers. That was in the gaurdian. Hope its going to help with other neuro desease. Janexx
C wants to help with cards but I don't know how. He can't write them or put in envelopes. Last year I let him stick stamps. They were all over the place !
He can write the cards for all at the hospice. They will understand - - - -
I can't really get enthusiastic about Christmas but I have arranged to join the local " carers association" on a trip to see the lights in Oxford Street. I feel I may regret this. Let you know how it goes !!
I've only become more enthusiastic today, very late for me. I've only written 4 cards so far and yhat was because they are going overseas.
Is C going with you to see the lights or just you and other carers. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself while you are there. Looking forward to how it goes.
I love the pigs might fly. I went Christmas shopping as well and got odds and ends but have also made it easy for myself when it comes to family. I'm giving them money. One needs a new fridge freezer and said they don't want or need anything else. They are buying one son a drum kit so I am paying for a stool and variety of sticks and brushes. Our youngest and his wife said they would rather have an "experience" so they will get money and details of a gaiming experience but not vouchers in case the company go bankrupt before they use it and our eldest is visiting in January with his family and said they will exchange presents then so I'll get the children something after Christmas. I put the tree up tonight so am feeling Christmassy at last.
I do hope you are feeling better Heady along with S. I have heard of that drug for Alzheirmers and maybe Parkinsons....I think it will be or is going to be tried on PSP as well......Keep up the hope. Heady, I haven't even begun shopping. I don't know how with B. I can get him to the Walmart and that's it!!! Besides Christmas I have two children with birthdays in December!!! Just an aside I have a theory that women are more fertile on two different times of the year. Thus if she has three kids most likely two will be within a month of each other and one of them will be somewhere else in the year. If you ever get time to think of something unsubstantial, take a look at women you know and the birthdates of their kids. I have only done this with 20 or so women yet theory has been true with most of them.
Not only do I not have enough time , but I really don't have the money.....nightware though....everyone needs it (well actually all my men sleep in their skivvies ) I am getting my two kids water filters for their birthdays...exciting as a pair of sox@@@ but it's functional. I'm tired time for bed
I like your theory on births AVB. I gave birth to two in August and one in September and the one I was expecting at the beginning of January, miscarried in August. Our middle son's boys were born in November and beginning of January. Our eldest son's son was born at the beginning of January. He only has one of his own but they are long term fostering and that little boy was 6 last week. So even foster children seem to follow the pattern.
I've done most of my shopping on the Internet this year, or giving a bit of money towards things, a new fridge freezer for son no:2, money towards an experience for no:3 and no:1 is renovating his inn garden so money towards new plants when he gets to that stage in the spring. I never thought I'd lose enthusiasm for present shopping but I definitely have. Colin is having a new made to measure rise recliner chair with pressure relief seating so there won't be much left for anyone else.
Thanks Heady for reminding me about Christmas I have been putting it to back of mind hoping it would go away as too busy doing normal things.
Thanks Heady for the idea but as AVB says my lads do not use them, I will think may be garden tools as both have semi loved gardens like the idea of same gift though less to think about. Though money/store vouchers also good idea so they can get what they want, my snag are what to get a 15 month old who already has more toys and clothes than he needs and chocolates banned. Christmas cards better get them written and posted ASAP or last post will be on me.
I'm getting a nervous headache just reading these posts about Christmas.
Would it be rude to ask my daughter for 2 hours a month of her company? I know thats not me giving to her but I don't want any more crap . Just the pleasure of their company.
I think it's a good idea. Our first grandchild was due at the end of December 9 years ago. I asked our son and his wife what they wanted for Christmas and they said,"Baby sitting vouchers". Of course they didn't need vouchers for that as I couldn't wait to baby sit. Last year, the same son said he would give us time every Tuesday except during the festival season and he has come to help me every Tuesday that he has been available this year. He didn't come this week. He was in Calais, delivering flat pack wooden shelters he and his friends had made, and showing the residents of The Jungle how to build them. Two of them went to 11 unaccompanied Afgan boys age 9-14. The others were for young single women and mothers with children. The reaction I had when he said he was going was totally different to the reaction I had when I saw the video he took in the mud and the gratitude shown by the youngsters at having a "proper house" to live in. Europe in 2015 !

Yes. People have many different views here as lots of refugees/ migrants/ have broken into lorries and trains to try and gain entry into the UK illegally. They have caused a lot of problems as the channel tunnel has had to be closed several times meaning folk can't carry on their normal legitimate business between the two countries. Lorries have been stacked up on the motorway because they can't get anywhere and holidays have been ruined. It's a problem I can't see being solved for a long time but as well as the strong young men who try night after night to get here, there are women with children and children on their own. Our son said he ate outside by a fire, in the mud, sitting with people from 5 different countries, all leaving their own country for different reasons and who now have nothing other than the clothes they were wearing and what they were being given by people who have decided to help. When he first told me he was going I thought his lorry would be high jacked and he'd be arrested for bringing illegal immigrants into the country, or he would be attacked for what he had but he said he didn't see any violence or nastiness. Strong young men were shown how to erect the shelters for the women and all nationalities worked together. Whatever took them to The Jungle, as the area is called, I don't suppose any of them realised how cold, wet and muddy they would be. It needs a miracle and very sensible, sensitive politicians to solve the problem.
It does seem like this is a problem in many countries.
Your son seems like a kind man who cares about those who have less than nothing. Those sensitive polotician need to tak an example from your son and live in the Jungle for awhile. The thing about politicians is they may have started out with the best intentions. Bad experiences or really good experiences make them forget why they got into politics in the first place. Then they sit on their laurels entertaining guests and cutting ribbons to events and places that really only make them look good to the voter....does it really fix the problem...do they know what the problem is....no, not anymore...
Enjoy your wallowing. It's hard to get excited about Christmas isn't it, I have my son staying for a few days and he helped with the tree, half the size of our usual tree but I can't manage anything bigger on my own when it's time to dismantle. I have put a few token decorations around and done most shopping online. The next job is the wrapping and card writing, so best get cracking. We are actually in Bristol for Christmas to see our soon to be born grandson, due date today. I will be in charge of all cooking but at least there are others to help entertain Ben whilst I'm slaving away in the kitchen. Only joking. Can't wait to see them all. Xx
Good idea on the Christmas presents. W came Christmas shopping with me or should I say he sat in the shopping mall while I went shopping. Started to wrap them today with Christmas music playing and tree lights on but with the sun shining through the window it didn't feel Christmasy. Maybe I should have had a glass of mulled wine!!
I have not felt like doing anything, feel so fed up, trying to sort out George's centre, sent a letter to head of social services, not had a minute to myself, just going to give money, and I brought the grandsons a few presents, granddaughters there mum got me things of there list, just can't get into the Christmas cheer, but did buy Christmas tree today xxxxx
I hear you Yvonne, I haven't had any creativity since I don't know how long . I don't care about Christmas esp. this year.....B can't eat, I can't afford what the kids need....and I really hate buying/getting trivial gifts....I don't know what to do......I can't go shopping with B...more energy is spent looking after him than looking for stuff....
Seems like we are all feeling the same, I can't get into the Christmas spirit at all this year, I'm usually so organised! If it wasn't for baby Callum I think I'd crack up, he's the best present ever!....xx
Pat, you don't need to be organised to enjoy Christmas. It's just another day, admittedly, one we love to celebrate, but it does NOT have to take over our lives. Sit down, write your menu, sort your shopping list, then go shopping. End of!!!! Where will you be on Christmas Day? If at home, who is coming? what can they do? You have to delegate! I have 11 people coming, am I ready, of course not. Still waiting for my sister to tell me what to do, what to buy! Let others take over, hard I know, I loved being the one to sort Christmas, but that can't happen now. Yes, it stick in the throat, but that's our lives now, isn't it!!!!
