Has anyone been on this medicine before? What are the side effects and intersections with other medicines?
Have a nice day.

My husband takes Azilect. One a day. It is supposed to slow the advancement of Parkinson's (and hopefully PSP). He also takes another Parkinson's med, levodopa. The problem with Azilect is the price. We had to pay about $1000 for a 3 month supply the last time. We do have Medicare part 3 or whatever, but I think we are in the 'donut hole' now. You lucky people with National Health have no idea what this about!!
It may be helping. I think he is no worse now than he was 9 months ago although he has had a few down times in between.
Hi Mahmoud,
He is definitely having more problems with word retrieval and has to make an effort to be heard and understood, but that has been the case for many months. He is able to carry on conversations with many different people in a party setting, though is best one on one.
I don't know whether the Azilect is making a difference though. We have no way of knowing what he'd be like without it. He feels it helps or he would have stopped taking it. There do not seem to be any side effects. It might be worth trying it for a while, then stopping to see if there is a difference? Hard to know. I believe any benefits will only be temporary like any of the Parkinson's meds.
Let me know what you decide and if you think it helps.
